Claire blinked at him, the lifted a naturally curved brow, "Are we supposed to?" She asked, "Because I didn't read that in the Cousins-Are-Relatives manual." She said, only being slightly sarcastic, "And If I know Faye - and I do - then I know she's gotten herself into some kind of trouble. She doesn't go this long without contact if she hasn't. And that's why I'm worried." She met Maddock's gaze, "And she might be fins now... but can you honestly tell me she hasn't gotten into trouble? And what do you mean dating your brother?" Her eyes narrowed, "Who is this brother of yours? I don't trust him. He's got to be some sort of axe murderer or killer. Why else wouldn't have Faye contacted me since she's so fine?"
Faye jumped in shock at Mariah's bellow, eyes wide as he pulled her away. She was so surprised that she didn't even react until he glared at her, mumbling under his breath about chid locks for adults and he just looked so angry. She promptly burst into tears, unable to help herself. She lowered her head and dropped her face into her hands, crying as if she truly had hurt herself, "I'm sorry! I just... didn't think," She hiccuped, still crying, "and now... now you... h-hate me!"
Antonella was just putting the finishing touches - ie adjustments to position - on a vase when she heard Mariah cry Faye's name. Her head lifted in a quick motion and she rushed to the kitchen, only to see Faye once again in tears. Pregnancy was really hard on the poor girl, her hormones just shot to hell. It didn't look like it was much easier on Mariah. The man looked like he'd just about had enough. On a good day Faye was clumsy as hell... pregnant? It was a miracle Mariah hadn't locked her into a padded cell.
"Huh? What?" Edna lifted her head and blinked, looking around. Her glasses were a little askew and she straightened them, then gave Maverick a strained smile, "Oh, hi! I wasn't expecting you today and- what's Angel wearing?" She asked, now frowning at the dog. The pit had a very pick, thick sweater, that had jeweled wings and the word "Angel" in cursive. The color matched the four booties on her feet, "Did you... did you buy that?" She couldn't see it, no way Maverick had purchased something so... so... there were no words. But it helped to take her mind off the letter a little, which she promptly hide behind her back. No use in Maverick seeing it.

Of the different reactions Ben had imagined he would likely receive from Murel, 'It's about time you came back, jackass.' had not even made it onto the list. Still, he would take the verbal abuse over being punched any day. "I'm happy to see you too, Murel," he replied with a grin that was halfhearted at best. The past two weeks had been terrible though, and he just wanted to crash. "I was actually going to ask a fa-" the sentence trailed off as he looked past her into the apartment. Ben frowned, confused, and then sighed. "My apartment's empty because all of my stuff is here, isn't it?" He asked as he turned his eyes back to his neighbor. He ran a hand over his face and then pushed it through his hair. "Why?" He finally asked. Because there was honestly nothing else to be said. And honestly... that was about the only word he could muster right then.
Mehki had hoped that by taking her conversation out into the hall, she wouldn't wake up Max. He had to get up early enough as it was. And it almost seemed to work, except he was awake a few minutes later. "Morning. Sorry to wake you, but I just got a call from my friend. He's been traveling for awhile... I think he's in England right now. So it's day for him, and he wanted to tell me that he's coming home." Usually she was not a morning person. For Mehki, mornings were a sluggish time where there should be very little conversation. But with the news about Zach coming back floating about in her mind, she felt wide awake and even mildly hyper. And she knew her response was more akin to babble, but she just couldn't help it!

Maddock shrugged. He didn't know why Faye hadn't contacted Claire, after all, he barely knew the girl. He supposed it was part of her job, Mariah was equally close mouthed when it came to work and where he went. It made sense, though, being an undercover agent for the FBI must make for very secretive individuals. He frowned at the insult towards his brother. He refrained from commenting on it, however, as there was no reason to when she obviously wouldn't believe him anyways. And besides, she'd see herself, tomorrow. "I gotta get back to work. You got a place to crash?" He didn't want to leave her, his imp railed against it, but he couldn't risk his job any more than he already had. If anyone found out that he'd hidden a stowaway, he'd be fired on the spot.
Mariah's anger immediately dissolved at the sight of Faye's tears. "Don't! No! I don't-! Faye, stop crying, please!" Dammit, he hated when she cried! He looked around helplessly for a solution, then spotted Tony in the doorway. He gave her a look full of panic that practically screamed 'Help me!' He put his hand under Faye's chin and forced her to look at him. "Faye, stop crying! I don't hate you, you scared the shit out of me. Goddammit, stop, please!"
Mark held the door open for Adam and helped him out of his winter coat, hanging the clothing up on the coat rack to dry. Adam zipped ahead to the kitchen, only to stop at the sound of crying. He looked back at Mark. "Uh oh." Mark sighed and shook his head. Not again. "Come on, Adam, let's go help Uncle Mariah calm down Auntie Faye so we can have our cocoa." He led the way, Adam trailing along behind. Faye's pregnancy was taking its toll on all of them, and as much as Adam liked Faye, her constant moodswings were wearing on the boy's limited patience. Adam fisted his hand in Mark's pants and looked down. He needed Caesar, but the toy was in his room. Running a hand through his blond hair, Mark stepped up beside Tony and looked at the scene in the kitchen. "Faye, Mariah, will both of you please calm down?"
Maverick wasn't fooled, he knew something was wrong. But if Edna didn't want to talk about it, he wouldn't force her. He grimaced at Angel's ridiculous outfit. "Not a chance. Tony bought it, who else? And I wasn't about to tell her no when she insisted she wear it to class." He sighed, embarrassed. They'd gotten a lot of giggles and comments from the other participants and e'd nearly died of embarrassment. Though aside from some really funny steps learning to walk in the booties, Angel didn't seem to care.
Murel bit back a grin, keeping up the grumpy front. She was so ridiculously happy to see him, she felt like doing cartwheels. "Well, you were gone for so long, I figured you weren't coming back. Might as well help myself to some free stuff." She paused, then punched him in the arm. "And that's for leaving so long!" She huffed and stepped aside to let him in. "Get in here before you let all the warm air out, do you know how cold it is outside?!"
Alarm bells immediately started pinging in Max's head as his imp reacted to the thought of another male around Mehki. "Your...friend?" He asked cautiously, hoping she didn't catch what he couldn't hide. "That's great. It sounds like you've missed him a lot." While Max didn't love Mehki, she was still his soulmate, and the thought of her even being friends with another man had him fighting off a jealous rage. Fortunately he was still half asleep so he couldn't quite muster up the energy needed to be possessive. "When will he be back?"

Ben shook his head and rubbed his arm where Murel punched him as he stepped into her apartment. "For a few minutes there, I actually thought you weren't going to punch me," he snorted as she closed the door behind him. "You really can't be mad at me though. It wasn't as if I had a choice in the matter." He set down his bag in a corner and yawned. "As much as I've missed your verbal abuse, I'm so tired I almost decided to sleep in the floor of my apartment. So, mind if I crash on the couch or do I need to find a comfortable piece of floor?"
Something in Max's voice as he said the word 'friend' made Mehki look over at him curiously. Except that wasn't much help because of how close they were. "Mmhmm, he's my best friend, so of course I've missed him." She gave a brief stretch. "He's coming back today, actually." Mehki paused and then sat up, looking over at Max. "You should probably know that Zach is actually my roommate. He's kind of... like a brother, I guess," she said, twisting a piece of hair between her fingers.

Murel paused, suddenly worried. Abuse? He thought she was abusive? She knew she was rough, and crass at times, but abusive? She didn't want him to think that! If he thought she was abusive, he'd leave and wouldn't come back this time! "You can have the couch if you want, but I was going to let you share the bed," she said, trying to be nice. She didn't want him to leave! Hiding her thoughts, she headed back to the kitchen. "I was just about to eat, you want some?"
"You never mentioned a roommate before," Max said, growing even more concerned. Even the comparison of a brother didn't help. She'd hidden the existence of this Zach from him. Why? His imp was starting to snarl, hungry for the competition's blood. Mehki was theirs, no one else's! His arms tightened around her as he pulled her closer, trying not to let her see how upset he was getting. He wasn't normally the jealous type. And now he was contemplating bodily harm against a man he'd never even met? What was wrong with him?

Claire looked around the warehouse they were in, "Yeah. I can find something, no problem." She turned and grinned at Maddock, "It's not like I haven't slept out under the stars before." She'd fallen asleep counting stars more often than sheep in her short life, "Or I can bunk in here somewhere. I should be able to find a place where the security guards can't find me. There are plenty of hiding spots here." She reached out and gave him a little hug, "Thank you for helping me, by the way. I can't remember if I already said it or not... but thank you." She gave his cheek another light kiss before stepping back, "Meet you here tomorrow?" She suggested before she began to walk away in search of a place to sleep.
Faye tried to continue hiding her face, "I-I can't." She stumbled, hating this. She didn't want to cry, didn't want to be so emotional, and she was as fed up with it as everyone else... which only made it worse. She was frustrated with herself and, after a few more tears, reached out and pulled Mariah closer. She fisted her hands in his shirt and buried her face against him, "I'm sorry..." She hiccuped and cried some more, "You... you don't hate me?"
Tony walked over to Mark and Adam, pressing a kiss to first Mark's cheek, then Adam's, "Why don't you go on and leave me here with Mariah and Faye? I'll try to clam them both down." She smiled at Mark, "Maybe this time we can get her settled rather quickly." At least, that's what Tony hoped would happen. Honestly, she secretly prayed that Faye never got pregnant again.
Edna smiled, this time truly feeling it, "Class? It started today? How did she do?" She asked as she knelt and accepted kisses from Angel, giving her some loving rubs as well, "I bet everyone loved you, didn't they?" she said to Angel, baby voice and all, before standing, "And at least she doesn't seem to mind the outfit. I bet it's nice for her, since it's starting to get so cold out.

Maddock paused before leaving, then looked back at her. "You can stay with me. I'll come get you when my shift ends." Without waiting to let her protest, he headed out and back to work. He had three hours of his shift left, and it was hard to concentrate with his mind full of her. He kept going back to her smile, the sound of her voice, how soft her hand was, and the feel of her lips on his stubbled cheek. Was this what it was like, having a soulmate? He'd never wanted to meet his soulmate, having been content with his life. Bout now, after a single conversation, he couldn't wait to get off work.
"No, I don't hate you," Mariah said, trying to calm down. You just scare me when you do things like that and I lose my temper. Please calm down." He held her close, swaying from side to side as he tried to calm her down. Were all women like this when they were pregnant? He couldn't help but wonder how his father, may he rot in Hell, had gone through this not just once, but seven times.
"But I want hot cocoa," Adam whined, pout turning to anger. Mark frowned at him. "You'll get your cocoa, I did promise, but remember that we can't always have things right away." He gently turned the boy away and ushered him towards the stair, despite his protests. "Tell you what, let's go get Caesar, and tell him all about the snowman we built, then we'll get some cocoa, how's that sound?"
"She did great. Everyone thought she was absolutely adorable and one of the other students gave me her number." He shrugged awkwardly, not sure what to do about that. He'd tried to turn it down, but she'd insisted, claiming that since their dogs had gotten along so well, they should meet up some time to let them play. Not that he'd take her up on it, of course. It was just...awkward.

Claire blinked, a little surprised, as Maddock walked away. Was he really going to take her home? Why? Sure, she'd had offers before, but most of the time they were sleaze bags... or incredibly religions and only helped so that they could feel superior to their other religious friends. "Huh." She shrugged, half thinking he wasn't going to come back for her. Just in case she scoped out the warehouse, finding a nice secluded area that could work. She had to climb a few boxes to get there, but she liked it because it was up high. Most guards didn't bother to look up. So it was there she waited for Maddock, wondering if he was truly going to show or not.
Faye clung to Mariah, slowly calming with each rock. Pretty soon, after a couple minutes, she was calm enough that she wasn't sobbing anymore. She sate back and rubbed at her eyes and cheeks, still not meeting Mariah's gaze. She knew what her tears did to him and she honestly didn't want to cry. No, she hated it. And it always made her feel bad when she did this to him. "I'm sorry. I wasn't thinking... I didn't think the bowl would be all that hot and I was just... I'm sorry." another tear slowly fell, "And I'm sorry that I'm crying all the time." She heard the sound of glass meeting marble and glance over to see that Tony already had five mugs of hot chocolate set out.
Tony gave Faye a soft smile, "Feel better? No? Here. Chocolate will help. But be careful. It's hot," She teased Faye with a smile and a little wink. She'd heard Adam asking for one - or rather, demanding one - and figured it was a good idea for everyone to have.
"Her number?" Edna asked, trying to sound like she didn't care... when she cared a whole heck of a lot. Why would a girl give him her number, other than she wanted to date him? And why did it bother Edna so much? It wasn't like they were dating. And Maverick had never, not once, shown any sign of being interested in her that way. Didn't matter that Edna really liked him... but who wouldn't? That girl in the training class sure did. Still, she pushed back the hurt that was creeping along and gave him another smile, thins one a bit awkward, "You must have made a lasting impression."

Three hours later, and Maddock, usually one of the last to leave, was the first to punch out for the evening. Of course, this had become the norm of late, and everyone knew why. Or they had. Sherwin nodded at him as he passed, he'd see him soon when he stopped by the other hand's house to pick up the kittens. After Sherwin had accidentally killed his favorite cat, he's been appalled to learn he'd orphaned three newborns and had offered up the services of his stay at home wife to watch them while Maddock worked. Maddock had wanted to turn him down, hurting at the loss of the friendly silver tabby, but he'd been forced to accept. After all, who else would take care of them? He made his way back to the warehouse where he'd left Claire and snuck inside. "Ready to go?" He called, looking around. "Got an errand to run, then we'll head to my place."
Mariah grabbed a mug and passed it to Faye. "Drink," he said simply, grabbing his own cup. He resisted the urge to admonish her, drowning it in chocolate. She wasn't a child, and it wasn't like she could control her hormones any more than he could control his temper. Hopefully next time she'd remember. "Future reference, oven mitts are in that drawer."
Mark and Adam came down a minute later, the latter toting along his beloved panther. Mark popped his head into the kitchen after pausing to straighten yet another picture. Damn Tony. Not that he'd ever say anything, and in a way it was endearing. She liked to pick on him. "Is it safe yet?" He asked, stepping aside to let in Adam. With a cry of "Cocoa!" the little boy darted past and climbed up into his booster seat at the counter.
"I think it was more Angel than me," he said, trying to shrug it off. He felt guilty about the whole situation, and for once Chrissie had nothing to do with it. He glanced sideways at Edna, his smile more of a grimace. "I tried to give it back, but she wouldn't take it, so I ended up throwing it away. She seems nice, but I don't think it's the best weather for doggy play dates. I can't believe I'm talking about that. It's like she's my child. Next thing you know I'll be looking at day cares and birthday cakes."

When Claire heard Maddock's voice she scooted to the edge of the stack o boxed and crates she was laying on and grinned down at him, "You really did come back." She said, a bit surprised. With a little laugh she climbed down and skipped over to him, grinning widely, "I was half convinced you'd just leave me. Which would have been fine, since I really don't know you. But I'm glad you didn't because you's my only lead on Faye right now." Once more, Claire acted on impulse and took Maddock's hand, "Alright, good sir! Lead the way!"
Faye glanced at the drawer as she slowly took a sip of the hot cocoa. She'd remember where they were now if it was the last thing she did. At a small cry of "cocoa!" she glanced over to see Adam dart into the room. The boy seemed happy here now that he knew Mark and the others wouldn't hurt him, she thought as she took another sip. She was just about to ask Adam how his play in the snow was when a very familiar feeling rose within her. Her eyes widened and shot to Mariah's. She could feel the bile in her stomach rise, her mouth salivating in preparation of what was to come, "Bathroom!" She said to him as she slapped a hand over her mouth and tried to jump from the stool, the cocoa not setting well with her at all.
Tony smiled at Adam as he rushed in. She waited until the boy was seated in his chair before sliding the mug to him, "Be careful. It's still hot," She said as she drank from her own mug. She was happy to see how well Adam settled into the house... and was glad that his parents brought the boy back after Thanksgiving. Pretty soon it would be Christmas and Tony would bring out her Merry reindeer dish ware. She was just about to go looking for it when Faye suddenly slapped her hand over her mouth and struggled to get off the stool, "Faye?"
A small, dark part of Edna celebrated within her when she heard that Maverick threw away the number. That part of her wasn't really nice or friendly and Edna felt a little shame because of it... but it was hard not to celebrate. She still, technically, had a shot if Maverick ever did want to start something more between them. Edna told herself many times that it just wouldn't happen, that he didn't see her like that, but she couldn't squash the hope. Instead she gave Maverick a smile, "Well, I was just going to deliver the pizza to the orphanage when I realized I forgot my phone. That's why I'm here. I came back and stopped to get the mail on my way back out. Want to come with?" She still hasn't gotten a car... but at least the pizza shop and orphanage wasn't too far from her place.

Maddock looked at their joined hands, but couldn't think of a thing to say on the matter. So he opted for silence as usual and led her to his truck, careful to make sure they weren't spotted. He got the door for her, as the passenger side tended to stick and had to be manually unlocked, then climbed in and turned the ignition. The heat took some time to get going, the blowing air almost drowning out the crooning voice of Johnny Cash coming from his radio. "Feel free to mess with the music," he said, well aware that his choice of music was in the minority. He could listen to anything, but something about the man in black just spoke to him. He drove to Sherwin's house and put the truck in park but didn't turn it off so the car would stay warm. "Be right back, wait here." Again, he didn't wait for an answer before heading to the door. A minute later he returned with a cardboard box, which he handed to her. He would have liked to have gotten a carrier for the kittens, but a box was much less obvious, and he was less likely to be ratted out if he didn't advertise that he had cats.
"Shit!" Mariah quickly put down his mug and grabbed Faye, hopping to the nearest bathroom before she blew chunks all over the floor. He helped her to the toilet, pulling her hair out of the way as he did so. He knew hopping didn't help her nausea, but she was going to throw up anyways, might as well make sure she made it to the bathroom before she did it.
Adam watched Mariah and Faye go, wide eyed. He'd gotten used to seeing Uncle Mariah disappearing and reappearing all over the place. Shadow hopping, they called it, and Adam was excited for the day he'd be able to do it. It looked like fun! He looked up at Tony, then at his drink. "Did you make bad cocoa again?" Mark frowned at the empty air where his brother had been. He'd been trying, but getting Mariah to watch his language around Adam seemed to be a lost cause. At least the boy wasn't repeating it yet. Abigail would die if she heard her angel repeat some of the things he heard. But luckily he seemed to understand there were some words grown ups said and he didn't.
"Sure. Better yet, I'll drive you. Angel would love to see the kids." There was no sense it letting her freeze, either. He followed her up to her apartment. "What was that letter you were reading earlier?" He asked, trying to find out what had upset her. "I mean, you don't have to tell me, but, you know, if you want to..." He trailed off, shrugging a shoulder. Smooth, Maverick. Real smooth.

Claire didn't change the music station as Maddock drove him to run his errand. She smiled at him as he got the door for her, glad to see that chivalry wasn't too damaged in this age. When he disappeared into the house they'd stopped at and he left Claire started to get a little antsy. It was the music. While it wasn't bad... it just wasn't fitting her mood right now. So she began to flip through the stations, only stopping when a familiar voice started singing. She grinned, singing along with Matt Maledire until Maddock returned. She was surprised when he set a dirty box in her lap, then grinned, "Kittens!" She immediately reached in and started to pet and play with them, laughing, "Aw, they're so cute!"
Faye felt even worse after Mariah shadow hopped... but at least she didn't make a mess in the kitchen. Once she was finish she stumbled her way to the sink and rinsed out her mouth... then brushed her teeth for good measure. When she was done she turned to Mariah and wrapped her arms around his waist, reburying her face in his shirt, "Thanks. Sorry again." Since becoming pregnant she said sorry at least a dozen times everyday... and this one seemed to be the same. "It sucks that I'm pregnant and chocolate is making me sick. That's just not fair."
Tony pouted and looked down at her mug, "I don't think so..." She bit her lip, then pulled Adam's mug away from him, "But, to be safe, we should let your father make some more..." She poured out the hot chocolate from all the mugs, "I don't know how I got it wrong... it's just warmed milk and the cocoa powder....." She grabbed the box and looked at the directions, "I cooked it just like the box says...."
Edna smiled at Maverick, "Thanks. I don't mind walking... but carrying a dozen pizzas makes it a bit hard with the snow." She entered her small apartment and tossed the crinkled bill on the little table by the door, "And... nothing." She sighed, "Just... stuff for my parent's Christmas Gala." She went and began searching for her phone, not finding it anywhere obvious. She was starting to get frustrated when she remembered that she'd left it in the bathroom. She disappeared into the only closed off room in the studio apartment, grinning as she found it laying in the sink, "Ah, here it is." She said as she came out.

Maddock glanced at the radio, surprised to hear his brother's voice pouring out. It wasn't an uncommon experience, of course, he just hadn't expected it. "You like Matt Maledire, huh?" He asked, trying to be casual. That was going to be interesting. He wondered how she'd react when she met him in a few weeks. That is, if she stuck around. He certainly hoped she'd stick around. He really didn't want her to leave. It wouldn't be fun, having to chase her down. He drove to his apartment and pulled into his assigned spot, thinking about how his life was about to change. He hated change. "Pets aren't allowed in my complex, so cover them up while we sneak them in." Normally he just hopped to his place, but he couldn't do that with Claire.
"Stop apologizing," Mariah said yet again, holding her close. "It's not your fault, and it won't last forever." He knelt down and gently poked Faye's stomach. "Hey, you in there, cut it out. Your momma needs a break, okay? Let her have her chocolate." He glanced up at Faye's face, hoping to cheer her up, even a little.
Mark sighed. Tony was trying so hard, but she simply was not a natural chef. He suddenly wished the cooking lessons he'd bought her started before Christmas, but it was his gift to her and he'd wanted to give it to her under the tree. "Come on," he said, standing, "why don't we all make it together? Tony, will you grab the milk?"
Maverick glanced at the crumpled paper on the table, curiosity warring with manners. It wouldn't be rude if he just happened to glance over and see it, right? He looked down at Angel at put his finger to his lips. "Don't rat me out, okay?" he whispered, stepping over to take a look. It was a bill, and from what he could see it was to a very high end boutique. Why would Edna go there? He couldn't see her in the kinds of things they sold. The only reason he could think of her going there would be that her parents had forced her. But then why would she have the bill? They knew she couldn't afford that kind of designer label. He quickly stepped away as he heard Edna return. He gave her a smile, hoping he didn't look too guilty. "Ready to go?"

"Oh, I love Matt Maledire. He's my one freebie, you know?" She said as she continued playing with the kitten, "If I was in a relationship, anyway, but since I'm not it's a totally different story." She shrugged, "But I'll never meet him, so no biggie." She glanced up once Maddock stopped again, "Aw, who would say no to these cuties? But ok, I'll hide them." She made sure the kittens were covered not only from the wind, but prying eyes as they walked to his apartment, "I really do appreciate you letting me stay here, by the way. You really didn't have to." She gave him a smile, "You're a good guy. I'm glad I used that brick wall disguised as a chest to run into, Much better than running into a real brick wall."
Faye gave Mariah a little smile, "I hope he or she listens," She said softly, reaching out and running her fingers through his hair a little. Her other hand splayed over her stomach. She was just barely starting to show, only the tiniest rounding to her lower abdomen present. She wondered how big she'd eventually get and prayed that it wasn't too bad. She was so small in stature that she was liable to topple over front first if she got too big, "Thanks for getting me in here so quickly," She said softly.
Tony bit her lip, wondering if she truly should. After the Thanksgiving debacle and now this.... still, what would it hurt to hand Mark the milk. So she nodded and turned to the fridge, pulling out the gallon container and setting it next to Mark, "There. That shouldn't have damaged anything." She turned to Adam, "So, how did building your snowman go? Did you have a lot of fun?"
Edna nodded with a smiled and walked over to Maverick, "Yup. And the kids are going to love Angel. I think she'll be a bigger hit than the pizza, which is only right." She gave the pit another rub along her ears, then walked with Maverick out the door after grabbing the pizza boxes, glancing at the bill one last time before pushing it out of her mind for now. The walk to the car was relatively quiet, though she did speak once they were all in Maverick's truck, "I'm glad to see the pizza is still a bit warm. It's gotten so cold out recently that I wouldn't have been surprised if it was frozen by now." She knew she was making small talk and babbling a little... but she couldn't help it. The shock of the bill and hearing that Maverick got a phone number from some strange lady upset her thought process. She was starting to run on fumes.

If he hadn't been so tired, Ben might have been worried at Murel actually being nice. She'd done plenty of nice things for him in the past, but usually not in a nice manor. "No thanks, I ate on the way here," he declined the offer of food as he made his way over to the couch and flopped down onto it, shifting to leave Murel some room to sit down. Before he'd had to leave, they'd gotten pretty close. Murel would often come home wanting what she dubbed "Ben snuggles" and he had even asked her on a date, which they never went on. So, as Murel returned to the room and joined him on the couch, Ben yawned, "We should get around to that date soon."
Mehki sighed, dropping the piece of hair she had been playing with. "I didn't mention him at first for a couple of reasons... one, he wasn't here, and two, I honestly didn't think things would last this long. I know a month isn't that long, but I don't really date that much, and a month is a while for me. But another reason I didn't mention him is because guys tend to get weird when they find out your living with another guy, nevermind that Zach is gay as a rainbow, his words not mine, and would rather eat his own testicles than date a girl." She paused, frowned. "Again, his words, not mine." She bit her lip as she risked a glance over at Max. "I guess I just never really found a good time to say something, as lame as that sounds. But... and here's some of the reason I don't date much... if you aren't fine with Zach, then we're done." Though she'd sounded slightly nervous through most of the explanation, her voice hardened at the last part. Bros before hos and all that.
